About the Donor

A great entrepreneur, James A. Rice founded James A. Rice Engineering and General Contractors and was responsible for many prominent commercial and industrial developments in the Greater Toronto Area, as well as several notable government projects. His vision and drive made an impact in communities across the country.

James (Jim) was a leader who encouraged others to constantly enhance their skills in the pursuit of excellence and generously gave his time to charities, local government, professional associations and cultural organizations. Jim was a true citizen leader.

To honour his memory, the family has established the James A. Rice Endowment at Ontario Tech University to support the electrical, mechanical and infrastructure engineers of tomorrow. The fund will provide an annual bursary of $750 to a student in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science with a demonstrated financial need.

Jim's legacy will help students become the engineers, entrepreneurs, community builders and industry leaders of tomorrow.
