Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Program timelines

As a student employee, you are responsible for staying updated with important dates and deadlines involved with the University Works program. The fall/winter program and the summer program have unique dates and deadlines to be aware of.

 

Dates for each stage of the University works program
Friday, June 23

The University Works application will open for students to apply. The application will be open for six weeks. 

Please note:

  • Students must be registered in full-time undergraduate studies in the current academic year (September to April) to be eligible for the UW program. Students registered with Student Accessibility Services must be registered in at least a 40% course load (2 classes per semester).
  • Professional or graduate level programs are not eligible in the University Works program.

Friday, August 4

Last day for students to apply for the University Works program.

Monday, August 7

Jobs will begin to be posted on the Student Life Portal.

Tuesday, September 5

First day of the fall program.

Friday, December 15

Last day of the fall program.

Tuesday, January 2

First day of the winter program.

Friday, April 12

Last day of the winter program.
