Global Leadership Award
One valued at $120,000
The recipient of this international student award will receive $30,000 each year, over four years. The recipient must be outstanding academically and have made notable contributions to extracurricular or community activities.
Please note: This award is only available to a student beginning their studies in the fall semester. Winter intake students are not eligible.

Criteria
The recipient must:
- Be in their final year of secondary school, entering their first undergraduate university degree.
- Be studying in a secondary school outside of Canada.
- Demonstrate personal leadership and excellence in extracurricular activities beyond academic requirements, and/or significant contributions to their community or family.
- Have an excellent academic record—an 'A' average or equivalent grading based on their secondary school evaluation.
Please note: If the recipient's Canadian immigration status changes, the value of the award will change.

Application process
To apply for the Global Leadership Award:
- Complete the online application. Printed application forms will be discarded.
- Complete Scholarship Reference Forms, submitted by referees only.
Applications must be submitted no later than February 15, 2024. Late or incomplete applications will not be reviewed, nor will applicants be notified.
Successful applicants will be notified by early June.
Please note:
- You must have applied to Ontario Tech University to be considered for this award. Apply through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre by January 31 to be considered for admission to competitive programs such as Nursing or Computer Science.
- Apply through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre by March 31 to be considered for admission to all other programs.
- Make sure to apply for the appropriate scholarship in full—fill out all required sections of the application and follow the instructions regarding formatting and maximum word length.
- By completing an application for the Global Leadership Award, you will also be automatically considered for our International Leaders Award.

References are used as an important means for determining the quality of your application. In order for your application to be complete, you must have two references; one community and one education.
Community reference
Your community reference should be someone other than a family member or close friend, who has observed you in your public life and is aware of your various involvements.
Education reference
Your education reference must be written by a teacher, counsellor or principal, who has observed you in your public life and is aware of your various involvements.
Submitting references
- Complete two Scholarship Reference Forms, submitted by referees only.
References must be received no later than February 15, 2024.
Applications are now closed for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Results will be shared with successful and unsuccessful applicants by early June.
