Major Entrance Scholarships
- Chancellor’s Scholarship: One valued at $36,000 ($9,000 for four years)
- President’s Scholarship: Two valued at $30,000 each ($7,500 for four years)
- Founder’s Scholarship: Two valued at $24,000 each ($6,000 for four years)
If you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident studying full-time at a Canadian secondary school, you can apply for the university's Major Entrance Scholarships. These awards are given to applicants who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, and exceptional leadership and community involvement.
Please note: Only one application is required to be considered for all five awards.

Criteria
The recipient must:
- Be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant.
- Be in their final year of secondary school, entering their first undergraduate university degree.
- Demonstrate personal leadership and excellence in extracurricular activities beyond academic requirements, and/or significant contributions to community or family.
- Have earned minimum 85 per cent in best six 4U or 4M courses.

Application process
To apply for a Major Entrance Scholarship:
- Complete the online application. Printed application forms will be discarded.
- Complete Scholarship Reference Forms, submitted by referees only.
Applications must be submitted no later than Thursday, February 20. Late or incomplete applications will not be reviewed, nor will applicants be notified.
Successful applicants will be notified in early June.
Please note:
- You must have applied to Ontario Tech University to be considered for this award.
- Only one application is required to be considered for all five awards.
- Make sure to apply for the appropriate scholarship in full—fill out all required sections of the application, and follow the instructions regarding formatting and maximum word length.

References are used as an important means for determining the quality of your application. In order for your application to be complete, you must have two references; one community and one education.
Community reference
Your community reference should be someone other than a family member or close friend, who has observed you in your public life and is aware of your various involvements.
Education reference
Your education reference must be a teacher, counsellor or principal, who has observed you in your public life and is aware of your various involvements.
Submitting references
- Complete two Scholarship Reference Forms, submitted by referees only.
References must be received no later than Thursday, February 20.
